Author Interview with Stacy Juba – @BookGoodies @StacyJuba

BookGoodies host Deborah Carney interviews author Stacy Juba about publishing as a teen by a big publishing house, and later with a smaller publishing label and eventually independently publishing. We also discussed collaborative book promoting and KDP Select vs expanding to other ebook platforms. There is also a discussion about whether we want children reading ebooks or staying with print books. Would enjoy your comments on that issue as well!

Here is a short bio from her site, you can read the longer version here:
Although Stacy Juba specializes in writing adult novels, she has also authored books for children and young adults – she pursues whatever story ideas won’t leave her alone. Stacy’s titles include the mystery novels Twenty-Five Years Ago Today and Sink or Swim, the mystery short story Laundry Day, the children’s picture books The Flag Keeper, Victoria Rose and the Big Bad Noise, and the Teddy Bear Town Children’s E-Book Bundle (Three Complete Picture Books), and the young adult novels Face-Off and Dark Before Dawn. She is a former journalist with more than a dozen writing awards to her credit and is currently working on a contemporary fiction/romantic comedy novel, as well as a new mystery novel. Many of her titles have appeared as #1 on various Amazon Kindle Top 100 lists.

Free Kindle Book Today – Affiliate Marketing Then and Now

A fantastic group of people got together in October and recorded a podcast about how they got started in affiliate marketing: Brian Littleton, Todd Farmer, Connie Arnold, Scott Jangro and Todd Crawford. There are also questions and comments from people in the chat, like Shawn and Missy.

The transcript of that historic podcast is now available as a Kindle book. Don’t have a kindle yet? Doesn’t matter, kindle has an app for that. Literally. They have apps for all computers and devices except Linux I am told. The Kindle book is for sale for $5.99 (Vinny told me to price it at $1 per person that participated) of which 70% will be donated to AMGB and the October Avon Walk team. But *you* don’t have to buy it. I have something more important to ask you.

On Thursday and Friday of this week (Feb 23rd and 24th) the Kindle book will be available for free. To anyone. Not the “free for Kindle owners only to borrow” but really free. What I would ask of you all is to “buy” the book for free, click the “like” button and leave a comment/review. This should help the book climb the Amazon ranks so it will be more visible and it will actually sell later on. And tell others to get it for free too. Posts, tweets, fb would all be great. If you tweet you can use the hashtag #books4boobies

Of course after Feb 24th we would appreciate you purchasing the book to make that donation via Any and all blog reviews are appreciated, you can post the link to your blog reviews on our Facebook pages to get additional exposure to your post (and blog).

Not a “How to” But a “How Did I”….
Technology Gave My Children Better Lives
Chapter 1

Hi, everyone. I’m Deborah Carney. I am the host of several podcasts that some of you may listen to,,, and more. Today, I’m going to have a special edition. We’re going to call it the first of an ABCs Plus Special Edition.

I’m sitting here on a day that is a sad day for me every year. Nine years ago today, on Mother’s Day, May 13th, 2002, my youngest son was killed in a car crash. Every year on May 13th, I usually try to do something special that commemorates his life or helps other people. Today, what I decided to do is talk about how I got started on the Internet. Normally, I don’t do single podcasts by myself, so I hope this ends up being an okay podcast.

I think it’s important for a lot of moms and dads to hear my story so that they can understand that their story, even though it’s maybe in a different time and place, we all have some very similar experiences. I want to talk a little bit about it’s a bit of a history lesson in how the Internet has changed how we deal with certain things in our lives.

Mommy Bloggers Panel from Affiliate Summit West 2010

MommyBloggers: Changing the Face of Affiliate Marketing? panel from Affiliate Summit West 2010, which took place January 17-19, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV. An interesting note to this panel is that I posted a request for speakers in HARO to find the bloggers, except for Kim, who I already knew.

Another thing, for merchants that may be listening, too many merchants are carte blanche turning down “Mommy Bloggers” and bloggers in general. This is a powerful group of people that probably can hit your target markets.

– Deborah Carney, CEO, Team Loxly (Moderator)
– Wendy Limauge, Blogger, Sweeties Swag
– Carrie Rocha, President, Pocket Your Dollars
– Kim Rowley, President, Key Internet Marketing, Inc.
– Heather Sokol, Proprietor, Inexpensively

MommyBloggers are involved in many types of monetization strategies for their blogs, affiliate marketing being one, however they aren’t necessarily doing it in the “traditional” ways.

Many thanks to Affiliate Summit for posting the replays of sessions from past summits. Many of these are still very relevant, like this one.
